Have you ever noticed that when you’re a sports game that there are a ton of fans in the stands who constantly make comments about how a player plays, how bad/good they think they are, what they would have done different etc.? Yes, it’s quite annoying but every person has their own thoughts and opinions they sometimes feel they have to share. Usually these are the fans that have never played sports in their life but yet they think they’re an expert after watching a few games…

We see this all of the time especially dealing with customers. But today we are not talking about that we are talking about those in general who feel like they are know-it-alls. Yes, our concept is one that people might call “edgy” or a customer might say “you can’t do that…” Well yes we can and we are definitely edgy but we are helping business owners everywhere with what we do. Some may not agree with us but actually most do agree with us and even customers think it’s an amazing tool for business owners. Do the negative people stop us? Not at all.

For instance…Friends of ours own a coffee shop and they have people walk in everyday saying that they need to change this, change that, this is not how they would have done it…who cares, it’s not their business and people should not be rude in telling you everything they “think” you did wrong.

What we are getting at is that there are always going to be those out there that have opinions of you, your business, what you do, what you say, how you act and so on. But guess what? You can’t please them all and you definitely shouldn’t try to please everyone. If you know that what you’re doing is great and you are able to help others then there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. When you start a business don’t be afraid of what others may think or say about it. It’s your business and make it the way you think it should be. Don’t let others bring you down because most of the time they’re just jealous, honestly. If you spend too much time worrying about what others think then yes your business will most likely fail. If someone has something to say, listen to them, say your peace and move on. Don’t waste your time on them because there are too many other great people out there waiting to chat with you and tell you how much they love what you’re doing.

This has been on our minds recently and we wanted to share with you all. So if you’re currently in business or creating your start-up don’t let others tell you how to run your business, YOU make it how YOU want it to run. And next time you’re at a game and a fan keeps yakking about how much better he is than the athlete playing just say “then get out on the field and show us instead of running your mouth about it.” Or you can always just throw your drink on them….

Be real and be you. Others see it and admire that.

We love to be inspired here at Business Beware and we love nothing more than to see young entrepreneurs in the making and seeking out their dreams. It’s tough being an entrepreneur at any age and it can be a lonely road but when you have others that are in your shoes it can make the things feel a little more at ease…And Under30CEO is just the place to be if you’re an entrepreneur or wanting to become one.

“Under30CEO develops young people who have the hunger to think outside the cubicle. Our job is to make you uncomfortable enough to do something with your life. We give you the resources, community, and inspiration to do it. Lifestyle + Business= Under30CEO”

We talked with Jared O’ Toole who is the co-founder of Under30CEO about how and why Matt Wilson (founder) decided to start this awesome website…

1. What made you want to start Under30CEO?
We graduated college and simply wanted to start a business, no careers. We tried many things and all of them failed in some way so we started connecting with college entrepreneurs. We missed the excitement of college entrepreneur groups and clubs and decided that if we got back into the mode we would come up with an idea of our own. This is what spawned Under30CEO as we started connecting with young entrepreneurs and realized people were liking it. We took it from there and decided to do it full time and grow it into a resource.

2. There are lots of young entrepreneur sites starting up everywhere, what makes yours different from the others?
Commitment and experience. We have been running Under30CEO in one form or another for two years now. That has given us an un-matchable insight into young entrepreneurs and what they go through. The amount of under 30 CEO’s, businesses and contributors we have been a part of the site is also at the top of the pack.

We have done this full-time for over a year now. Our commitment to the site has seen it steadily grow faster then any other startup young entrepreneur site. We have big plans and have seen that as we moved from a side project to a full blown business no other sites have kept up.

3. What is one thing that you see most young entrepreneurs ask about when starting a business?
Common ones are “What do I do first?” or “How do I find my audience?”. They are general but very common because every new entrepreneur is over-whelmed with how many things they have to do.

4. What was the biggest thing you had to overcome to get where you are now with Under30CEO?
Time. I think time is the biggest killer of so many businesses. People just can’t stick it out. Everything takes longer then you think, but if you believe in it you will get there. Nothing happens quickly because everyone your working with has other things going on. Your business might be the only thing your doing to survive but everyone else has other priorities so it happens slowly.

5. What all does your site offer?
We offer advice, motivation and inspiration to young entrepreneurs. We have exclusive under30ceo interviews so people can learn how that 25 year old made a million bucks. We also have the thoughts and insights from the older generations on youth entrepreneurship and where they see opportunities and obstacles for young entrepreneurs.

Then there is startup advice which is general advice on marketing, leadership, work/life balance, branding and more.

We are working towards providing more resources for small businesses and also building on the events that we hold in cities like NYC and Chicago.

6. How does your team kick back relax away from keeping up with the site Under30CEO?
It’s tough but we try to make sure to always make time. Recently we have focused on enjoying our weekends and staying away from the computer for the most part. We realized that it is really important to take a break and not work 24/7. I think we accomplish a lot more when we work hard Mon-Fri and then go out just like our other friends on the weekends. Any work we get done is just a bonus and feels good.

7. What is the one piece of advice you could tell any young entrepreneur?
Just go for it and then figure it out. I am a big believer in taking the leap even if your not %100 clear on anything. Under30CEO started because of a few conversations with young entrepreneurs about how to start completely other businesses. Our new marketing company Shadow Concepts LLC started because of our experience and connections we made with Under30CEO.

None of this was planned for a second. Put yourself out there and doors will open over time.

These guys are awesome and you definitely need to them out at Under30CEO.com There are some amazing articles on there as well so take the time to read through them and give Jared or Matt a shout too.

It is exclusively dictated by your beliefs. If you truly, emphatically believe you will succeed, you will. If you don’t, you won’t. In this section you will learn how to master enabling beliefs and destroy limiting beliefs. Your entrepreneurial mastery depends on it.”

Mike motivates you to be an entrepreneur who can work with less and make it a success. You don’t have to have a lot of money to make a successful business and that is what “The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur” is all about. What are you going to do with three sheets of toilet paper compared to a whole roll?”

We have read Mike’s book and are HUGE fans of it and definitely recommend it to all entrepreneurs as a must read. Mike is going to be on the Business Beware Show this Saturday (5/22) so make sure and tune in! For more information on how and where you can listen in, visit our radio show website. Please email us with any questions you have for Mike too and we will gladly read them on the air.

Check out this video where Mike is wearing our “got business beware” shirt on his “on a roll” videos.

Make sure and check out Business Beware so you can warn others about difficult customers who have become bad apples in the group….
